Less Than Two Months To Go For The ME Blogger Campaign -Only 10 spots left!

November 03, 2008 By: J. Pisano Category: New ME bloggers No Comments →

Well, it’s been long and hard but we’re seeing light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.  I can’ t believe how many music educators are now blogging.   When I first started this campaign in January, you could barely find a music education blogger using Google, now they’re everywhere  -which is a very good thing!

There are so many good things that are coming from the ME bloggers, the global conversations that have been started are so good for moving forward the discussion about what we do and how we do it.   Personally, I’ve learned quite a bit, not only from the posts of the Music Education Bloggers, but from the process itself.

The blogging process allows avenues for expression that may be hard for people to access in any other way.  In particular, writing or blogging, allows times fore reflection, introspection, and in particular, clarity of thought about a particular idea, condundrum, or thought.

I’ve always written about blogging as a means to share knowledge with the your peers, students, or even the world.   This type of action is readily apparent after reading hundreds of blog posts by music educators about what they do best.  In addition, I’ve read from the ME Bloggers many posts where the idea of digital mentoring and helping guide others and not only seen, but the process is clearly visible.  As ME Bloggers we are putting forth “good” information onto the web to begin to fill the very visible “gaps” of knowledge about our subject on the web AND clarify and add to the knowledge base that is all ready there.   We’re begining to “cut through the junk” that was and continues to be found when searhing for related subject matter about our field.

October ME Blogger Update!!!

October 01, 2008 By: J. Pisano Category: General Chat 4 Comments →

Well, only Three Months to go!  The campaign has been long and hard but I know you will agree with me that it was/is worth it!   There have been so many great ideas and thoughts that have come out of the ME Blogger folks over the last 9 months that it would be almost impossible to write them down…but we did and for all the world to read and see!!! :)

Any ME Blogger (or any serious blogger) will tell you that the act of actively blogging has changed their thought process, made them better at what they do, and has expanded their communicational sphere (Think Global here… and don’t forget local as well :) ).   I’m very proud to have founded/started this campaign and I feel that we will, indeed, make or goal of 100 ME Bloggers by January, 1st 2009!   Keep those ideas, posts, and comments coming!!!

September ME Blogger Update

September 02, 2008 By: J. Pisano Category: New ME bloggers 3 Comments →

The countdown continues…  We are now officially up to 76 Music Education Bloggers!  There are only 4 months to go in this campaign and we are already over 75% of our target goal of 100 Music education bloggers.   I am very pleased with the progress of this campaign and personally, have been working, as much as I can and very hard with this ambitious undertaking.   For every blog that I realease as a “ME Blogger” there are 5 that are SPAM, not related, totally whacky, or simply not what we’re looking for as an official ME blog.

ME Bloggers take note: In preparation for the publiciity and articles that I am going to be writing and hope to be publishing via “snail” methods after the official end of the campaign, I am going to be going back through and checking to see if all the ME Bloggers are remaining true to our campaign pledges!  Nothing fancy, but I don’t want to have  ME blogger listed that is not active or currently inactive as we approach January 1st, of 2009…the deadline.  What do I mean by this?

Here’s what I mean:  As a ME blogger, we pledged to “post regularly” about a topic that is “interesting to you, your students, the music audience as whole, etc. -that is related to music education and/or music technology in a classroom environment… Along those lines, we’re not expecting everyone to blog everyday, every week, or even every couple of weeks, but we need ME Bloggers that are actively blogging as often as they can and regurarly…

We agreed not to “covet” all of our materials and share many of them, freely with the world…This is part of the “Global conversation” that I keep sharing with you all…  Don’t forget to comment and get in on others conversations!!!   If you’re a ME Blogger make sure you take advantage of the Carnival that Joel and I started just so we can continue to “get the word” out about Music and Education!  Amy Burns just finished a great carnival, if you missed it -check it out at her site and see what the fuss is all about!

Mustech.net Welcomes Mystro2B To The Blogosphere!

January 14, 2008 By: J. Pisano Category: Everything Else Chat, Music Education No Comments →

Mystro2B is not a new site, but a “new to me” site that I came across a couple of weeks ago.  Ken writes about all things music, education, and technology and is quite an active blogger.  His posts are well done and his content “many”.   He is an active elementary music specialist and the conductor of the Seattle Pacific Men’s Choir.

Add his site to your blogroll, visit him today, and drop him a comment or two!
Find the “Mystro2b” here: http://mystro2b.wordpress.com and add his RSS Feed to your reader to keep on the latest from him!
