Good Evening,

I’m becoming very frustrated at the fact that every single screencast program I’ve tried produces audio glitches when demoing, in my situation, a sequencing program. Does anyone know what I can do to rid myself of this insanity? I am currently using Camtasia. It’s great…But not so for creating demos on music software programs like Cakewalk or Fruity Loops.

Please…Someone help. This screencasting thing will surely assist my students in retaining certain knowledges of music technology functionality.

Enjoy Being…

Hey, How’s things in Chicago? Are you ready to Join the ME bloggers yet? :)

I have had great success with CamSudio. It also allows you to record from your “line/speaker” or “mic” settings for audio. It’s free and GPL. You can check out my article about it here:

http://www.mustech.net/2007/10/awesome-screencast-recording-software-available-for-free-camstudio/

Also the people around here at Mustech.net never stop talking about the JING project. You can check it out here:

http://www.jingproject.com/ I’ve not done much with it and am not sure about the audio options.

If these don’t work, let me know and I start asking and looking around for you.

Hey Joe,

Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. I know of and have used Jing as a result of one of the music education blogs out there. Let’s just say I wouldn’t have every learned of it if it wasn’t for you and others who are passionately placing this sharing of knowledge through blogging agenda. A soon as I learned of Jing, I let my buddy, who also happens to be a computer science teacher at the high school, know. He then turned me onto Camtasia…Which is awesome…Except for the audio glitches.

As for your ME Blogger question. I’m in…and finally have 3 posts on my blog site. You checked out the first. Check out the other two. I hope you enjoy them. http://www.iknowithink.blogspot.com

I’ll be trying out Camstudio very soon. This screencasting thing will probably be subject of my next blog post. Thanks for inspiring me and others to get in this game.

I sincerely hope you are still planning on organizing a Bloggers conference. As I mentioned to you at Midwest, consider Chicago, but not before you consider SF, NYC, Seattle, etc. I’m sure my principal would be more than interested in hosting something.

I would greatly appreciate you plugging my blog in anyway possible.

Hope all is well with you.

Enjoy Being…

I’m on a Mac and I use Jing and Snapz Pro. Jing has a pretty poor audio quality - pester the guys at Jing on their blog for an option to alter audio settings (I did already!), as all you get is a default that is poor for music. I also use Snapz Pro though it outputs as a .mov file, whereas as Jing is a more web-friendly .swf.
