Found a similiar situation with the website for Philadelphia's two major newspapers - www.philly.com.

The URL directs me to the mobile version unless I remove the "Tablet PC 2.0" entry. Remove the entry, clear the IE cache, retart it and try the URL again and now the normal site appears.

No such problem using Firefox so I'll be keeping Firefox around to handle sites that behave this way on my Tablet.

BTW, after a re-boot of my Tablet, the problem re-appears so the removal is only good until the next reboot.

well, Microsoft being such a huge company and this problem of webmail crashing being seen commonly, I wonder why MS has not taken additional steps to save the time and resources of its customers. I am sure that the volume of people harried by this would be in many thousands and MS seems to have got no news about it yet...Strange, is it not????

I wrote on 8/14 (Post 18):
Tried Dave’s registry removal sugestion in Post #11. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in my case
===============
Well, I got it to work with Dave's suggestion and this gets stranger all the time. Here's the order I did things: 1)Cleared file cache in IE. 2)Closed IE. 3)With IE closed, went to regedit and deleted the entry. 4)Invoked IE and NBC.com WORKS! 4)Rebooted - the previously deleted entry is back BUT... IE is still able to get to NBC.com. WEIRD! Thanks again for the registry deletion help as this solved the problem even if I don't fully understand it.

Deleting this worked after an IE restart.

Very cool.

I use Dolmetsch Online quite a bit to learn things about playing the guitar. It is one of the best known music resources out there. A lot of people don't know that Dolmetsch Online exists. That could be both a good and a bad thing. As more people learn about Dolmetsch Online the information will grow.

Initially I didnt like windows vista, but after using it for a while I got used to it and now I like it. There are some things that bother me about Windows vista still. I usually run things as administrator to avoid issues.

Nice post. Music education is very important. Some music educators really know what they are doing. The thing is that there are many music blogs out there that give out iffy advice. Some of them are very good though.

Tried Dave's registry removal sugestion in Post #11. Unfortunately, it doesn't work in my case. Also, after a reboot, the previously removed registry entry reappears. Even if I don't reboot and confirm the entry is gone, remove cache setting from IE, close browsers and restart IE, I still can't get to the site. FireFox can get to NBC.Com (after Tools->Clear Private Data - thanks Marie in Post #16). So, looks like I'll keep FireFox installed just for NBC.Com but I'm sure some others would suggest it's the better browser anyway.
Cheers,

Eugene,

Thanks for the post. I agree, wouldn't it be nice if we could just experience fine arts in the schools as smoothly as any other subject.

        Thanks for your points!

Dr. P,

I enjoyed this post and in particular, the paragraph regarding 'Music and Arts Teachers having every bit of the educational credentials as other teachers' and should be be afforded 'the same rights, privileges, and facility spaces as other teachers'.

I would take this a step further and venture to say that music teachers put as much we if not more time into their craft as lawyers, doctors and accountants. These are the disciplines that we should be aspiring to emulate as far as compensation.

For far too long (dating back to Lowell Mason and the Boston School Board days!) music educators have been 'giving away' their expertise because by our very nature we are a kind and caring group, often putting students first and our own needs last. I fear we have gone too far down the road inside academia and now we may have few options (if any) as we attempt to gain back our budgets and programs, not to mention our rightful rewards as professionals.

It's sad for students when programs continue to shrivel up and die. And even sadder for our profession as a whole which gave so much to 'school music programs' over the years and had such little support.

My dream is that letters like yours will some day no longer be necessary!
