ME Blogger, Music Education!

Hello all,

I’ve finished up a couple of graphics and badges that can be used for any ME Blogger!  I’m pretty excited about them and I think they turned out pretty well (pat, pat!). :) .  I’m going to create a couple different ones in the time to come as well.

Here’s the very simple rules for using the ME Blogger Badges:

  • Your blog must deal with music education, and/or music education technology

  • You agree to openly share your blog information with others and be part of a global conversation with others about our field (comment on others blogs once in a while!!!)

  • You keep the badge the same as I have them, with the exception that you may re-size them to any size you would like and you may change the transparent color if need be.

  • You don’t have to, but… I would appreciate it if you linked the picture (anchor) it back to our 100 ME blogger campaign so we can get other music educators interested it what we are doing.  Use this link as the anchor point:
    http://www.mustech.net/100-me-bloggers

  • You can use this logo on any literature/paper/materials that you want, so long as you are a ME blogger!

  • If you don’t follow these simple rules, you may not use the badges.. :(

Here are the links:

Right-Click the above and SAVE AS….

Please remember that to be an official ME blogger, not only do you need to blog about Music Education you need to join in the conversation with others by listing sites like mustech.net and others in your blogroll and commenting on other music educators sites every so often!  Visit my blogroll in the left sidebar for an example, and some great bloggers!

I will be posting the list of old and NEW ME bloggers very soon!!!  Stay tuned!

  • Keith,

The "code police" would be all over me for stating the ALT attribute was meant to cause a pop-up appear... Strict interpretation of HTML states that ALT attribute is used for showing text when images are turned off. IE will show you the ALT as the TITLE when there is no TITLE. This little IE thing is handy, but promotes bad usage of the ALT tag for people like me! :( I also use Firefox and Opera from time to time, I need to do that more!

If you add the TITLE attribute in addition, this should correctly have the "popup" effect that you are looking for. Directly after the alt="text" add title="text" and that should fix it.

I'll change my tutorial to include that little correction! :)

Thanks for all of your work!

  • Joe,

The ME Blogger Logo looks great. I know Nothing! about code for websites. However, your excellent directions made it a breeze to place the logo in the sidebar of the Music Tech for ME site. The only aspect not working is the alt "Hover" text. I could not see it via Firefox or Safari. I double checked the code and it was correct. Any ideas?

    How much ME Blogger Badges???
  • Ken,

I spent some time putting together a "great" tutorial as to how to accomplish this. I think any WordPress user will find it useful as it allows you to do something that isn't really part of the "feature set". The tutorial isn't hard and it's found here:

    Joe-

Thanks for checking into this...I'll do the same. I've been able to find some directions on how to put the graphic into a post with a link, but not on the main page of a WP blog.

  • Ken,

Thanks. I run a wordpress.org site (independent) here. I have a wordpress.com site and will come up with a quick way to do this on your site and others. I'm not exactly sure where the wordpress.com sites upload the files too when you upload them.

Tell you what... I'll check on my two wordpress.com (BETA sites), figure it out and post a tutorial post about here in the next day.

    Thanks!

  • Joseph- Great graphic! I want to put it up on my Wordpress blog and have it link back to your site...is this easy to do in Wordpress?

I have more experience doing this in Blogger...any help for the html challenged would be great.
