Noteworthy Site Find #1: K-12 Resources for Music Educators

Submitted by J. Pisano on September 18, 2006 – 5:59 pmView Comments

Noteworthy Find    K-12 Resources for Music Educators

The K-12 Resource has been around for a very long time (1995) and is one of the best kept caches of ”weblinks” available for musicians as well as music educators. Although the site doesn’t offer much in the way of “frills”, the content contained within is a real treasure.

The biggest problem, I see with the site is the URL.  It is a hard one to memorize.  The site URL is: http://www.isd77.k12.mn.us/music/k-12music/   Fortunately, the owners have created two forwarders for us, http://k-12music.com and http://k-12music.org.

The site is organized into five categories:

  • Band
  • Choral
  • Orchestra
  • Classroom
  • All Music

There are links to almost every professional, commercial and music website available on the web today.  In addition, most of the links are valid and up-to-date .  Cynthia Mazurkiewics Shirk has done a good job eliminating “dead” links.

If this site is unfamiliar to you, make sure you visit it today.   It will soon become a site that you visit often.
